What Itadakimasu and Gochisousama mean?

Hello!
I’m going to share useful Japanese expressions!
Itadakimasu(いただきます) & Gochisousama(ごちそうさま)

In Japan, people say “Itadakimasu” before eating a meal.
It means “I gratefully receive this food.”

After finishing the meal, people say “Gochisousama” or “Gochisousama deshita.”
It means “Thank you for the delicious meal.”

These words show gratitude for the food, the person who cooked it, and nature.

Next time you eat Japanese food, try saying:
“Itadakimasu!” before you start and “Gochisousama!” when you finish!
Japanese peaople always show gratitude to everything that concerns them, which is our great spirit!
